Overview on Import Export Code

Import Export Code (IEC) is a mandatory 10-digit number issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) for businesses engaged in international trade. While the IEC itself doesn't expire, the DGFT requires annual updates to ensure the information remains current. As per DGFT Notification No. 58/2015-20 dated February 12, 2021, all IEC holders must update or confirm their IEC details annually between April and June, even if there are no changes.

Process of IEC Renewal

1. Visit the DGFT Portal
Navigate to the official DGFT website and log in using your credentials. If you don't have an account, you'll need to register first.

2.  Access IEC Profile Management
Once logged in, go to the "Services" section and select "IEC Profile Management." Click on "Update/Modify IEC" to begin the renewal process. 

3. Verify Existing Details
Review your current IEC details displayed on the portal. Ensure all information is accurate and up-to-date.

4. Update Necessary Information
If there are any changes, such as a change in business address or bank account details, update the relevant fields.

5. Submit the Application
After making the necessary updates, submit the application. You may need to digitally sign the form using your Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) or Aadhaar OTP.

6. Confirmation and Download
Upon successful submission, you'll receive a confirmation. Once processed, you can download the updated IEC certificate from the DGFT portal.
